VOXI is a low-cost mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) owned and operated by the Vodafone Network. When VOXI first launched in the UK it was aimed at under 30s, but after a very successful run and interest from other age groups, the network was expanded to be available to everyone.
VOXI sacrifices some premium features its parent network Vodafone offers, to provide cheap and high-value; prepaid flexible plans. There are only a few tariffs to choose from on VOXI, but these plans cover a large user base. VOXI proposes a unique scheme called ‘Endless Social Media’ that covers several popular social media apps (and their websites) including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok & Instagram.
You can also enjoy unlimited data at no extra cost on YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and TikTok, thanks to VOXI’s ‘Endless Video’feature, which is available on the network’s larger data plans. All VOXI SIM-only deals come with 5G coverage at no additional cost, as well as unlimited UK minutes & texts. You can also enjoy WiFi Calling and 4G Calling, provided your handset supports these features.
VOXI is powered by Vodafone, this means the carrier has the same network coverage and data speeds as its parent network. Vodafone is the oldest operator in the country and the mobile network offers over 99% population coverage. It also has the second most landmass coverage in the UK, around 86%. Only EE has more landmass coverage than Vodafone in the UK.
This doesn’t mean you’ll always get good coverage though. Half Cooked strongly recommends using VOXI coverage checker to ensure your areas are well covered.
Looking at Opensignal’s September 2021 speed test results we see that VOXI’s parent network Vodafone ranks as the third fastest UK mobile carrier. Opensignal is an independent testing body and their results are fairly reliable. According to this report, VOXI’s average 4G download speeds are around 21.6Mbps; the network’s upload speeds are around 7.4Mbps. These data speeds are more than enough to stream high-quality videos and listen to music.
Please, remember that these are average speeds and your experience may differ depending on many factors.
Contract-free mobile operator VOXI offers all UK customers 5G at no extra cost on all SIM plans. At the time of writing, VOXI’s 5G is live in 123 UK towns and cities. VOXI’s 5G service is also available in 193 towns and cities across Germany, Spain, Italy, and Ireland thanks to Vodafone.
Vodafone 5G is currently the weakest among the four major operators, however, it’s getting better and better. Keep in mind that you’ll need a 5G-ready handset to get 5G coverage.
According to Opensignal’s September 2021 test results, VOXI’s average 5G download speeds are around 73.3Mbps, and their 5G upload speeds average around 12.3Mbps. VOXI itself wasn’t tested, but we know for sure that its 5G coverage and speeds are identical to Vodafone.
Per Opensignal and OOKLA’s test results, Vodafone has the slowest 5G download speeds, but that’s still fast enough to stream 4K videos without any hiccups.
VOXI customers can enjoy both WiFi Calling and 4G Calling at no extra cost. These features are becoming essential, and they significantly improve your coverage, especially indoors. VOXI WiFi Calling and 4G Calling will only work with handsets that support them.
Wi-Fi Calling is a great feature that lets you make and receive voice calls, and texts over an available WiFi network rather than using a cellular network. When you’re making a call over WiFi, the quality of your call will depend on how good & fast your connection is. Once turned on, WiFi Calling kicks in automatically, whenever your cellular connection is weak or unavailable.
Under normal circumstances, you can’t make calls over 4G, but 4G Calling changes that. If your device and your plan support 4G Calling (a.k.a. VoLTE) you can make calls over your network’s 4G service. 4G is significantly stronger and faster than 2G and 3G, this means your calls will be higher quality, and many indoor blackspots will be eliminated. You can also enjoy fast 4G speeds, while you’re still on a call.
Your calls can move seamlessly between VOXI WiFi Calling and 4G Calling.
Tethering is allowed on VOXI. You can tether another mobile phone, laptop or tablet to your handset easily. The best part is your endless social data will still apply, even when using those apps or websites on the other device. The same goes for the apps and websites that are included in the Endless Video and Endless Music passes.
When you tether to devices such as your video game console, TV, Chromecast, Roku, or Fire TV Stick, the data used will come out of your general data allowance.
VOXI’s ‘Endless Social Media’ feature is unique to the network and at Half Cooked we rate it very highly. Endless social media stands for unlimited social media usage on Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook Messenger. As long as you have some data left in your plan, you can use any of these social media apps (or their websites) without eating through your general data allowance.
VOXI’s Endless Video Pass gives you unlimited streaming on Netflix, YouTube, Amazon, My5, TV Player, and UKTV Play, without burning through your data. In order to keep your Video Pass active, you must always have some of your general data left, even if it’s just a few MB. Connecting through a VPN or Proxy isn’t supported. In that situation, all data usage will come from your general data allowance.
VOXI Endless Music works exactly as their social media and video passes. You can listen to music on Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Prime Music, Amazon Music Unlimited, SoundCloud, and Napster without having to worry about how much data you use.
To be clear, VOXI doesn’t give you a free subscription. Subscriptions to mentioned services aren’t included.
This is VOXI’s unlimited data plan but under a different, fancier name. You get unlimited 5G data and there are no secret speed restrictions or data caps. It’s truly unlimited data. The only exception is roaming outside the UK. VOXI enforces a 20GB fair usage policy.
VOXI is a contract-free mobile network operator; they don’t ask for credit checks. All VOXI SIM-only deals work on a prepaid basis. Having said that, there are some benefits to setting up a recurring payment, but overall, you’re commitment-free.
As a customer, you can earn Amazon Gift Cards worth up to £20 pounds by inviting a friend over to VOXI. When you first join VOXI, you’ll get a referral link. If your friend makes a purchase via this link and renews their plan after the initial 30-day period, you’ll both get Amazon Gift Cards. The value of the gift card depends on which plan your friend picks.
You can use VOXI plans at no extra cost in 47 countries in the VOXI EU Zone. Your calls, texts, and data will work as if you’re home, but there’s a 20GB fair usage policy, which we mentioned earlier.
VOXI is one of the better MVNOs on the UK mobile market. Their Endless Social Media and Endless Video features are great and customer-friendly. Their prices are usually competitive, despite being a commitment-free network with amazing and unique features.
The carrier is powered by Vodafone and it makes full use of everything that’s available, including 5G. On top of all that, you also get 4G Calling and WiFi Calling at no extra cost.
We give VOXI 4 and a half stars out of 5 and strongly recommend it.
Yes, you can freely use your endless data plan to utilise your device as a personal hotspot. If you’re on another VOXI plan, your endless social data will apply on tethered devices too.

Yes, VOXI’s unlimited data plan is known as their ‘Endless data plan’. It is priced at £35 and it comes with 5G coverage. At the moment VOXI is one of the few MVNOs in the UK to offer a 5G service.
No they are not. VOXI’s endless social media doesn’t include YouTube or any other video streaming services. However, you can buy the ‘Endless Video Pass’, and use it to watch content on YouTube, Netflix, Amazon, Disney, My5, tvP and UKTV Play without using your data. If you completely run out of your regular data, you won’t be able to use this add-on.
VOXI is a sub-brand of Vodafone, the UK’s oldest mobile network operator. VOXI is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), powered by Vodafone’s network. While their network coverage and data speeds are mainly identical, there are many key differences between the two carriers.

Voxi is an interesting new network offering unlimited social media usage on several popular apps such as WhatsApp & Instagram. Being a Voxi customer means you benefit from Vodafone’s network with 99% population coverage for 4G with data speeds on average of 20 MB/s. With unlimited tethering and Amazon vouchers for referring friends Voxi looks like it ticks a lot of the big boxes but unfortunately Voxi’s 29 or under rule means if you are 30 or over the network isn’t available to you.
