iD Mobile is a reliable MVNO that offers 4G and 3G coverage, but which network does the carrier piggyback on?
iD Mobile is one of the most popular mobile virtual network operators based in the UK. iD Mobile uses the Three Network to serve its customers, but the carrier is actually owned by Dixons Carphone. iD Mobile aims to attract mobile customers who are primarily looking for short term commitments or affordable mobile phone contracts.
iD Mobile is offering 5GB of Data for just £6 a month! This represents great value and also comes with unlimited minutes & texts, as well as access to the fastest 5G network in the UK!
iD Mobile offers pay-monthly deals for 30-day rolling SIM-only contracts, as well as 12-month contracts. iD Mobiles phone contracts are always 24 months long offering great value.
iD Mobile offers 5G on selected 5G smartphones and 4G & 3G network services from Three. While it’s an old technology, 2G is still useful as a fall back option in some rural areas, but Three doesn’t have an underlying 2G infrastructure, meaning iD Mobile also misses out. 2G-only devices won’t work with an iD Mobile SIM.
The network’s SIM-only plans come with unlimited UK minutes and texts. The mobile network provider also allows you to use your UK allowances in 46 destinations across the EU and EEA countries. iD Mobile’s international roaming scheme also works in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Macedonia and Kazakhstan.
iD Mobile offers 4G Calling and WiFi Calling at no additional cost, but only to their pay monthly customers. This means you have to pass iD Mobile’s credit check first. Your device must also support these voice call quality improving features or else they won’t work. The Three powered network also offers a pay as you go service, with PAYG bundles, but they don’t include 4G Calling or WiFi Calling.
Another great feature the operator’s customers get to benefit from is iD Mobile’s data rollover scheme, which allows you to transfer any unused data to your following months bundle. You’ll always use your leftover data first, but it can only roll over for 1 month.
All iD Mobile plans allow you to tether freely. Please remember that tethering to other devices can use up a lot of data very quickly and can work out to be very costly. We always recommend opting for at least a large data plan if you’re planning to tether to other devices on a regular basis. If you want to be on the safe side, you can always choose an unlimited data plan from iD Mobile and tether without having to worry about running out of mobile data.
